I am delighted to have started my PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh’s School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. The school is housed at 50 George Square, a 1960s building designed by RMJM. Extensive remodelling and refurbishment of the building was completed in 2015. The interior is stunning, and the study area on the top floor boasts a splendid view. I have also enjoyed events at other University venues, including the Playfair Library and St Cecilia‘s Hall, which dates from 1763 and was the first purpose-built concert hall in Scotland.
